Angry About A Bush?

God says to Jonah..."Is it right for you to be angry about the bush?" (Jonah 4:9 NRSV).

In a nutshell...Jonah did what God told him to do by proclaiming God's judgment on the sinful city of Nineveh. The entire city repents and God changes his mind. Then Jonah gets upset with God and mopes under a bush. A worm eats the bush and Jonah gets mad because he's now unshaded in the hot sun.

At the end of this story, the attitudes of self-centeredness and selfishness finally surface in full form, obvious to everyone. Jonah cared more about himself than anything or anyone else.

Today God places his finger on the areas I struggle with. He uses a well-known story to pressure my heart toward needed change.

What "bush" am I concerned about?
