Built Together

In Jesus the whole structure is joined together and grows into a holy temple in the Lord; in whom you also are built together spiritually into a dwelling place for God. (Ephesians 2:21 NRSV)

As always, the construction terms jump off the page at me.

You can't miss the inter-connectedness we have with Christ and with each other. Jesus is the foundation. We are like pieces of lumber put together to form the walls, floors and roof. Without each other, we wouldn't be much of a "structure".

Yesterday, I said "goodbye" with hugs and tears to a dear friend that I've had over the last 16 years. He and his wife spent a couple of days with us in Gatlinburg, TN. Throughout the years, Greg has been a encourager, prayer partner, sounding board and great source of laughter. As we travelled our separate ways, I was reminded of the sturdiness I feel with him as we stand as "studs" together in the wall God is building.
