For whatever reason, I thought that the "bloody" part of the Old Testament sacrificing was always handled by the priests--somehow I missed the individual's role.
But in reading through the text, I see how each person was fully engaged in the process of sacrifice. There was no second-hand experience...you were totally involved in the process.
There are times I find myself disengaged or distant as I approach God--whether in my time alone with Him or at a church service. This cannot possibly be what God wants from me.
The apostle Paul shows me how I need to come..."present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God." (Romans 12:1 NASB)
God wants all of me involved in my relating with Him.
I bet that's what Jesus meant when He said..."You must love the Lord your God will all your heart, all your soul, all your mind and all your strength." (Mark 12:30 NLT)
