Godless Americans?

Sitting in McDonald's drive-thru, I saw a bumper sticker on the truck in front of me that read..."Godless American".

Obviously, the driver didn't believe in God. By saying 'godless', he's not referring to his actions or character, but rather He wants to have nothing to do with the host of others who believe that our nation is one founded on God's principles.

It's not the first time I've come across this approach.

I'm not sure an American can really 'disconnect' from God. Our nation has been and continues to be one which experiences God's blessing. I'm convinced this is due to the convictions of generations past who based the foundation of our country on a trust in God and a dependence on Him. I also believe our nation is blessed because of our alliance with the nation of Israel. Yes, I believe that Israel is still God's chosen people (Deut 7:6) and God says He will bless any nation who blesses Israel (Gen 12:2-3).

Any success, protection, progress or development our nation has experienced is due in large part to God's involvement. We would not be who we are or where we are in the global economic and political stages if it weren't for God's hand at work.

Godless American? I don't think so. Whether you want Him to or not, God is involved in your existence as an American. To be completely "godless", I think you'd have to live in another country.

Just my opinion.
