People say...”Jesus only came to earth to die.” If so, why did it take him 33 years? Why didn't He just come at breakfast, die by lunchtime and be back in heaven by dinner time? I don’t believe Jesus came only to die...I think there was more to it than that.
The conversation the angel had with Joseph about Mary’s pregnancy gives us the reason..."The angel said, 'Joseph, descendant of David, don’t be afraid to take Mary as your wife, because the baby in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you will name him Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.' All this happened to bring about what the Lord had said through the prophet: ‘The virgin will be pregnant. She will have a son, and they will name him Immanuel,’ which means “God is with us.” (Matthew 1:20-23)
God wants people to know He is with them so He does something crazy...in the middle of the night, Jesus is born in a manger.
Also, just before Jesus left planet earth, he said a few final words...“I will be with you always." (Matthew 28:20)
