The power of God

The apostle Paul writes as he prays...
"I pray you will begin to understand the incredible greatness of His power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in heavenly realms." (Ephesians 1:19-20)

Paul uses two amazing words to describe the power of God--"incredible greatness" are from 2 Greek words “huperballo” and “megethos” which in combination mean “to go way beyond”.

In other words...there is no point of comparison to explain, define or portray God’s power. None of us can ever imagine, understand or comprehend what God is capable of. None of us can fathom what could happen if we give God all of our lives.

I’m pretty sure that’s what Paul had in mind when he wrote...
"God can do much, much more than anything we can ask or imagine."  (Ephesians 3:20)

God has resources you don’t know about, timing you don’t know about, ideas you don’t know about and power you don’t know about. Specifically, God has power that He demonstrated visibly by raising Jesus from the dead.

There are times I have no idea how I’m going to make it through. I face moments of weakness and seasons of confusion. Often I find myself in situations that knock the wind out of me. Other times I don’t know which end is up. I need God’s power...How about you?

I want what Paul wanted..."All I want is to know Christ and to experience the power of His resurrection."   (Philippians 3:10)
