Laughing at Impossibilities

I know of people who are facing impossiblities in life...
I also know of a God who laughs in the face of impossiblities.

This past Sunday I shared about Abraham and Sarah..."Abraham and Sarah were both very old by this time, and Sarah was long past the age of having children. So she laughed silently to herself and said, “How could a worn-out woman like me enjoy such pleasure, especially when my master—my husband—is also so old?” (Genesis 18:11-12)

A pretty natural response from a 90 year old post-menopausal woman. She had been infertile all her life...she was old and her husband was old. She was thinking about her age, her condition, her situation. The thought of pregnancy was completely out of the question...it was impossible.

BUT God loves to step into impossible circumstances..."Then the LORD said to Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh? Why did she say, ‘Can an old woman like me have a baby?’ Is anything too hard for the LORD? I will return about this time next year, and Sarah will have a son.” (Genesis 18:13-14)

The irony is that God had them name the baby "Isaac" which in Hebrew means "he laughs". Abraham and Sarah laughed in unbelief, but God laughs in the face of impossibility.

"Is anything too hard for the Lord?" This is one of the great questions of the Bible and all of us must give an answer. Is there any problem you face, difficulty or crisis you battle that's too hard for God? Is there any circumstance God cannot handle? What impossibilities are you facing?

No matter how long it's been this way...No matter how hopeless things appear...Nothing is impossible with God.

What I need to grasp today is...Things seem impossible when I look at circumstances instead of God.
