There are very few people in the world that would ever admit they are greedy. We might think someone else is greedy, but it’s next to impossible to see greed in the mirror, so I probably won’t work on it in my own life.
All too often though, greed becomes the filter through which we handle our finances and possessions...and it spills out all over our relationships.
Even though you can’t see greed in your own life, chances are...it’s there.
Jesus gives a warning to all of us..."Be careful and guard against all kinds of greed. Life is not measured by how much one owns."
(Luke 12:15)
Greed is living as if upgrading your lifestyle is the most important thing.
Unfortunately, when greed gets lodged in your heart, the people around you begin to feel your stuff is more important to you than they are. You hurt people’s feeling for the sake of getting more and protecting what you have...“Don’t sit on that...Don’t touch that...Be careful to not scratch that."
If I’m not careful, I can prioritize my stuff over someone’s feelings...
and soon, the people I love feel they are competing with my stuff.
That's ugly...that's greed.
