Bible reading, praying, attending church, tithing, volunteering, worshiping...all of these things I do regularly. And yet, just like the Pharisees, I can get fixated on doing the "religious activities" and miss out on Jesus.
Obviously, none of the spiritual habits are bad for me, but if I make them the "end" instead of the "means to the end", I miss the point entirely. I must use these activities to intentionally focus my mind on Christ and develop a heart more attuned to His.
Spiritual habits don't make me more "spiritual". Rather, they give me access to all the "life" Jesus wants me to experience.
