Like Yeast

I like watching the Food Network channel and believing that I can perform the recipes Tyler or Guy suggest. But the truth be told--I am not a cook. I can handle some basics like scrambled eggs or spaghetti-os, but my culinary skills are very limited.

Yet, I am intrigued by a verse where Jesus talks about baking...
"The kingdom of God is like yeast used by a woman making bread. Even though she used a large amount of flour, the yeast permeated every part of the dough."
(Luke 13:21 NLT)

My baking knowledge is minimal, but I do know that yeast is a very potent ingredient. When my wife makes bread, she only uses a very small amount of yeast in the dough.

Often I feel as if I'm a very small fish in a very big pond as I try to make a difference in San Diego. With 2.9 million people in our county, I begin to wonder if one Christ follower can really have influence...if one church can really make an impact.

Then I am reminded that the kingdom of God is like yeast.
All I must do is proclaim the kingdom of God to everyone.
All I must do is pursue the kingdom of God everyday.
When I do this...God's yeast goes to work around me.
