The apostle Paul wrote..."I love to do God's will...but there is something else deep within me that is at war with my mind and wins the fight and makes me a slave to the sin that is still within me." (Romans 7:22-23 TLB)
I relate to this. I face this struggle everyday--my desire to follow God and my tendency to give into sin. Mostly, the fight is about little thoughts or attitudes, but there are times when the battle is difficult and the losses can be devastating. I want to live life God's way, but I find that sin still creates havoc in me.
I'm so glad that Paul continues... "Jesus acted to set things right in this life of contradictions where I want to serve God with all my heart and mind, but am pulled by the influence of sin to do something totally different." (Romans 7:25 MSG)
I am pointed to the importance of the action Jesus took against sin's influence and how it can affect the outcome in my life.
I need to crank up the volume of the Cross in my everyday life...
