Waiting

I hate waiting...patience is not a part of my DNA. Granted, I have learned some patience because it has been forced upon me, but it doesn't come naturally for me.

There have been times when I have waited for God to do what He spoke to me about. In almost every instance, I've thought..."God is slow".

In reading my Bible today, certain words spoke to my heart...
"The Lord is not slow" (2 Peter 3:9 NRSV).

As I read this, my first reaction was..."Yeah right". That's when I became very aware of the Spirit's highlight of the prior verse...
"With the Lord one day is like a thousand years and a thousand years are like one day."
(2 Peter 3:8).

Unlike how many people literally interpret this verse, this is referring to the fact that God doesn't operate by a timeline. He dwells and moves above and beyond time and space. My 24/7/365 doesn't place any limitations on God whatsoever.

All of this simply means is that God does what He does when He wants to do it. He is right on time with His plan whether I realize it--see it or understand it--or not.

Does this perspective help me wait? Maybe...I'll let you know.
