"The people ate the manna forty years, until they came to a habitable land. They ate the manna until they came to the border of the land of Canaan." (Exodus 16:35 ESV)
God's divine catering lasted for 40 years. God provided what they needed as long as they needed it.
I'm so glad God isn't like me. I have a tendency to be highly motivated at the beginning of a task and then fizzle out toward the end. God not only starts well--He finishes well. Scripture writers use a specific term to describe this...faithfulness. The prophet writes..."Great is His faithfulness; His mercies begin afresh each day." (Lamentations 3:23 NLT)
If I trust that God will come through, I experience the 'blessings' He has for me. It's a daily thing...and that's probably what makes it hard to do.
The Bible tells us that God tested the people for 40 years to see if they would trust Him. How long will it take me to trust in God's faithfulness in every arena of my life?
