Within Reach And Yet Waiting

On 2 occasions, David could have taken matters into his own hands--(1) when Saul was relieving himself in the cave-1 Samuel 24 and (2) when Saul and his guards were asleep-1 Samuel 26. In both situations, David had the means to speed up God's plan within his reach...and yet, he waited on God.

David had waited so long and had faced so much. His frustration level must have been very high. The current leader was doing a terrible job and he knew he was supposed to be the next leader...
he'd been chosen and anointed by God. Things were falling apart for Israel and David knew he could help the people by leading.
How did David stay on track with God and not try to make things happen on his own? How did he remain faithful to God's plan despite the prolonged wait and mounting tension?

David was determined to do things God's way. He made that perfectly clear to everyone..."Either God will strike Him or his time will come...but God forbid that I should lay a finger on God's anointed." (1 Samuel 26:10-11 MSG)

God, help me trust in your plan like David did...
No matter how things look or how I feel.
