Along with others in my church, I begin a 5-week experience today called "Hope Lives". The goal is for God to make me aware of people living in poverty and show me ways I can make a difference. I'm asking God to explode my heart with compassion and brokenness for the poor.
When you consider that "2/3 of the world's population lives on less than $2.00 a day", everything comes into focus. I spent more than that on my venti Americano and bagel at Starbucks this morning.
The cry of the poor comes to God--He hears the cry of the needy.
