Don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. (James 1:22)

James speaks of something that happens every Sunday in every church. There’s a sense in which people think: "if I’m in the building, I get credit."

We think it’s good enough to simply attend a church service, sing a little, maybe clap our hands, and stay awake during the sermon. Somehow, we think God gives us credit for just being there to listen. And so we think we’re more religious or more spiritual people because of that.

We walk out of the church service feeling better about ourselves…
And the New Testament writer James says..."You’re fooling yourself if you think you’re growing spiritually in any way...it takes more than just attending, listening and having your family in church."

What you do with what God says makes all the difference
