Inside the city, near the Sheep Gate, was the pool of Bethesda, with five covered porches. Crowds of sick people—blind, lame, or paralyzed—lay on the porches. One of the men lying there had been sick for thirty-eight years. (John 5:2-5)

Get the picture in mind of a gathering of people who were disabled…
Some were blind, some were limping, some couldn’t walk at all…
This huge group of people waiting for a miracle…
Anything that could change their circumstances…
And we have one man that comes into the spotlight of the passage…

When Jesus saw him and knew he had been ill for a long time, he asked him, “Would you like to get well?” (John 5:6)

At first glance, Jesus’ question sounds funny…
But I believe the question isn’t about the WHAT but rather the WHO…
Jesus didn’t just happen to stroll by and strike up a conversation…
Jesus intentionally looked for this man and went right to him...
Because this was all about this man.

“I can’t, sir,” the sick man said, “for I have no one to put me into the pool when the water bubbles up. Someone else always gets there ahead of me.” Jesus told him, “Stand up, pick up your mat, and walk!” Instantly, the man was healed! He rolled up his sleeping mat and began walking! (John 5:7-9)

Jesus entered a group of desperate people, but only one was changed. This man lived 38 years without taking a step, and now he is walking.

Don’t miss the fact that he didn’t require rehab or physical therapy!
This guy went from paralyzed to walking around in seconds!
He’s not dependent on others anymore...He’s mobile...that's a miracle!
