A Calling

As I read my Bible this morning, I was reminded of my story...
"You got me when I was an unformed youth, God, and taught me everything I know. Now I'm telling the world Your wonders; I'll keep at it until I'm old and gray"
(Psalm 71:17-18 MSG).

If asked when I received a "calling" from God, I'd have to say "all my life". As far back as I can remember, I have wanted to be a pastor. I can remember "playing church" with my cousins at a very early age...always wanting to be the "pastor", not the "choir".

I have dedicated my life--and the life of my family--to the purposes of (1) helping people know God as much as He knows them and (2) helping people experience a connection with the body of Christ--the local church environment. With God's help, I plan on doing this the rest of my life.

I can easily see how God guided me toward His purpose as I look back on the events, circumstances and interactions of my life. The people, places, experiences and crises developed and directed me to become who and what God had in mind.

I am overwhelmed to think God has a plan and purpose for our lives. To know God cares about me that much is breath-taking.
