"As far as the east is from the west, so far does God remove our sins from us." (Psalm 103:10 & 12)
We have a north pole and south pole, but we don't have east-west markers. Interestingly, God chose to use the "east-west" language to indicate the separation He creates between us and our sin.
When we confess to Him, our sins are removed so far out of the picture that they are no longer realized or recognized. He is never a God who holds our failures over us. He never reminds us of what we've done wrong. God always offers total forgiveness.
God forgives and forgets when we come to Him with our sins.
