As I've mentioned, Job was a man who lived his life God's way, and yet lost everything--his family, his possessions, his livelihood and his health--in a 48 hour period. I am amazed at how Job was able to believe that God was in control when all of life seemed out of control. As he speaks, you sense the conviction of his heart...
"What He (God) desires, that He does." (Job 23:13 ESV)
For the last six weeks, I've been learning more and more about the sovereignty of God--in my preparation for our weekend teaching series and in my own personal study. This is a concept that most people are confused by or are ignorant of.
I have struggled with this. It's difficult to believe that God is at work when nothing appears to be happening. It's hard to trust He's orchestrating events for His purposes when you don't see things changing or progressing.
Despite my lack of understanding, God's sovereignty is a reality. The Bible tells me that God is in control of the universe, our planet, our nation, and my life.
I must come to terms with the fact that "all things are done according to God's plan and decision". (Ephesians 1:11 TEV)
